AI4ALL opens doors to the artificial intelligence industry for underrepresented talent through education and mentorship. We nurture a global community of students who learn AI fundamentals and who then apply those principles to solve society’s most pressing problems in deeply innovative and ethical ways. AI4ALL programs run at 11 top universities around North America and will educate over 500 students by the end of 2019. 77 percent of alumni are interested in a career in AI after completing their program, and many are already making significant impacts in the field, from educating over 2,500 of their peers to winning “best paper” at top AI conferences.

About the Role

The head of finance and administration position contributes to AI4ALL’s mission by leading and supporting seamless fiscal, operational and human resource management systems, procedures, and processes. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with specific expertise in fiscal management and fund accounting, human resource law and best practice, nonprofit management and governance, and operations management. This team member reports to the CEO and will play a critical role in stewarding AI4ALL into sustainable growth and impact.

Administrative and HR

  • Oversee and develop superb financial, HR and administrative processes to enable sustainable growth
  • Develop and oversee AI4ALL’s HR function and support the organization in hiring, onboarding and developing a talented and diverse team
  • Work closely with the CEO and team to maintain a trusting, inclusive and results-focused culture
  • Create, streamline and improve internal data, IT, business process systems and infrastructure
  • Oversee and steward all legal needs and manage contracts and agreements with vendors and program partners
  • Oversee compliance with state and federal registration and reporting obligations, including state charity registrations

Financial Management

  • Create and oversee preparation and finalization of financial reporting materials and metrics for AI4ALL key internal stakeholders and funders
  • Manage deliverables in the monthly accounting calender and oversee accounting firm.
  • Oversee grant and donor receivables and coordinate tracking with development team.
  • Manage the financial reporting, compliance and filing calendars
  • Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for administration, existing programs, and proposed new programs
  • Coordinate audit activities


  • Bachelor’s degree (MA/MBA preferred) in Business, Management, or Finance
  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, ideally in the nonprofit sector
  • Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems
  • Thrives in a startup environment
  • Flexible and a self-starter; able to multitask while also being highly detail-oriented
  • Personal qualities of integrity and a commitment to AI4ALL’s mission
