AI4ALL opens doors to the artificial intelligence industry for underrepresented talent through education and mentorship. We nurture a global community of students who learn AI fundamentals and who then apply those principles to solve society’s most pressing problems in deeply innovative and ethical ways. AI4ALL programs have empowered over 7,750 people globally with AI education. AI4ALL summer programs run at 11 top universities around North America. Eighty-one percent of alumni are interested in a career in AI after completing the program, and many are already making significant impacts in the field, from educating their peers to winning “best paper” at top AI conferences. In October 2019, AI4ALL launched the Open Learning Program, providing communities with free, approachable, project-based AI education.

About the position

As the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education & Instruction Manager, you will be responsible for creating rigorous, inclusive learning experiences for high school students attending summer programs on university campuses across North America. As the AI Education & Instruction Manager, you will serve as a key lead on AI education for the organization, and will work closely with faculty at top AI universities across North America, hosting trainings with the university instructors and program facilitators. You will also have the opportunity to design year-round, technical education workshops for high school and college students. 

This position can be based in Oakland, CA or New York, NY

We believe designing an inclusive learning experience for all AI4ALL students will result in:

  • Increased student mastery of ethical AI,
  • More global student-driven AI projects, and
  • A broader understanding of how students can use AI for social good.

To achieve those ends, the AI Education & Instruction Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing curriculum to reach student learning goals,
  • Researching methods to engage underrepresented populations in AI 
  • Collaborating with university partners and alumni programs to manage instructor training development and support,
  • Collecting qualitative and quantitative data to refine the curriculum
  • Collaborating with all education program curriculum teams to ensure quality and values are consistent across AI4ALL education programs

We’re seeking candidates with deep AI knowledge and technical expertise, curriculum design experience, and a desire to learn in a startup environment. The AI Education & Instruction Manager will work with a team of AI & CS education experts, and will report to the Senior Director of University Programs. 

We’re excited to connect with candidates who have

  • A desire to increase diversity and inclusion in technology, 
  • A BS in computer science with a specialization in artificial intelligence and at least 3 - 5 years work experience

We’d prefer if you

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment,
  • Work both independently and collaboratively,
  • Learn new technologies quickly, alongside having a lifelong thirst for learning,
  • Are passionate about accessibility and have experience teaching students with diverse learning styles and needs, 
  • Are able to travel and work on weekends occasionally for conferences, student events, and the like,
  • Have a vision for leading on premiere AI education experiences for underrepresented high school students.
  • Have at least 2-3 years experience teaching and developing curriculum, ideally for high school and/or college-age students.
